The Full Moon [and some legends]

Apparently, as read on this random site, http://www.mythicalrealm.com/legends/werewolf.html, the idea that werewolves change at a full moon is a dramatized fiction. In fact, 'real' werewolves are the ones that change voluntarily whenever they would like to. The idea of the full moon; however, may have come from the idea that the full moon makes people a little bit crazy. So, it is interesting how these things evolve over time and to see why they do.

Also on this site, I found a story I had read the other day in class in the Lycanthropy reader that Tajian has. The story is about a female werewolf (which we should discuss some since they are rare especially in modern times). A hunter comes across the wolf and cuts off her paw, which he then puts in his pocket. when he returns to the town, he pulls out the paw and everyone sees it is actually a female hand bearing a gold ring. Then the other guy (not sure who he is, but he's rich or important or something) goes in the kitchen to find his wife sitting there with her hand cut off.

ps. apparently, hairy men are never "real" werewolves. The real ones actually turn completely into wolves. I thought you all should know.
